At 12:01, January 15, 2026, Beijing time, the AlSat-3A remote sensing satellite was launched by China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) on LM-2C launch vehicle from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center (JSLC). The satellite entered into the predetermined orbit, the launch mission is a complete success. This mission is the 85th flight of LM-2C launch vehicle and the 626th launch of Long March family.

In accordance with the Contract for the AlSat-3 Remote Sensing System signed between CGWIC, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) in July 2023, CGWIC as the prime contractor worked together with its subcontractors, China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), and China Satellite Launch and Tracking Control General (CLTC) to in-orbit deliver two optical remote sensing satellites for ASAL and to provide the Ground System (GS), training and other support services. The AlSat-3 Remote Sensing System is primarily designed to support land-use planning and to enhance capabilities in disaster prevention and mitigation in Algeria, etc.

AlSat-3 is another significant space program between China and Algeria after the successful delivery of Alcomsat-1 system. It is a significant manifestation of the China-Algeria global strategic partnership and a vivid example of deepening cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
